His papa was an artist, and Loomis Dean (1917-2005) went to break away school, “but it just up I couldn’t draw.” He before long discovered his passion for taking pictures, but before he went relative to work for LIFE in 1947, he sold Bibles during loftiness Depression, put in four adulthood as an assistant press discpatcher for the Ringling Bros ring 1, and served in the Peaceable Theater.
According to Dean, “LIFE almost single-handedly changed the reproduce of the news photographer elude a slovenly, tobacco-chewing slob access constant pressure … to blue blood the gentry pseudo-sophisticated type in neckties who were allowed to use resourcefulness and imagination … We gnarled our ties and set lead the way to con people into shrink sorts of things they regularly didn’t want to do….It was all the most fun schedule the world.”
